Our team's core role is ensuring coherent, accountable, and measurable impact across sustainability disciplines, to strengthen low-carbon operations and meaningful teaching, learning, and partnerships by governing, empowering, advancing, and protecting.

In 2026, the RMIT Sustainability department focuses on capability-building initiatives, co-creation programming, community development impact, and provides expert consultation on social aspects for other sustainability portfolios. From March to September 2026, the department is executing three main communication projects: Sustainable Living Handbook, Waste Journey Mapping (under the Zero Waste Program), and new UX/UI for Green Point application.

Responsibility

This role is content-focused, delivering creative, engaging content that encourages students and staff to adopt and practice sustainability while working and studying at RMIT. This includes content writing and editing, translating technical information into storytelling content, and social media planning and management.

This role will work closely with: (1) Communication Lead to understand the communication goals and objectives of each project, challenge the project brief to clarify the requirements and deliver the final content based on brief and feedback. (2) Creative Designer to ensure consistency between narrative and visual.

1. Content Production for the Sustainable Living Handbook and Waste Journey Mapping
- Collaborate with the Communication Lead and Creative Designer to develop creative direction for the Handbook and Waste Journey Mapping
- Receive and process data collection from the Project Team, challenge the information to understand the objectives and nature of the activity
- Create content from the received/processed information, based on the approved creative direction
- Edit the Handbook content based on feedback from the Communication Lead and Project Team
2. UX Content creation for Green Point application
- Receive and challenge to understand the brief from the Project Team regarding the content for the Green Point platform.
- Create content from the received/processed information Edit and finalize the content based on feedback from Communication Lead and Project Team
3. Participate in the content planning and content creation process to promote Sustainability projects with Communication Team and Project Team
- Participate in brainstorming and deliver content ideas for communication campaign promoting Sustainability projects
- Implement and execute multi-channel content creation plans (social media campaigns, event marketing, etc.) to introduce the Handbook to the target audience.
- Collaborate with Project Team members, Designers, and other departments to execute the plan.

- Experience in content management, focusing on content planning and content creation with an interest in sustainability
- Good Copywriting & content planning skill
- Foundation understanding of social platforms management
- Foundational understanding of content formats & engagement metrics report
- Basic analytics/reporting skill
- Cross-team coordination (collect inputs; iterate fast)

Working Hour
- Type: Part-time Intern or Full-time Intern from April 2026 to September 2026 (6 months) 30-40h per week (Flexible Hours), to be negotiated and agreed with Communication Lead Benefit and Opportunity
